What is a home energy score? A home energy score gives home owners and home buyers a visual representation of a homes energy usage and how the slightest improvements can help save money on energy bills and lower our carbon footprint.

Do I need a home energy score? If you’re planning on selling your home in the Portland metro, Milwaukie or Hillsboro area, then you are required to have a home energy score done on your home.

What happens if I choose to opt out and not get a score? Fines can be upward of $500 (Home energy score is much cheaper.)

Can I have a home energy score done without selling? Of course! We would be happy to give you some insight on your homes efficiency and show areas of improvement that can help save you money.

How is the score reflected? It is a combustion score that is shown on a scale from 1-10; one being the least efficient and ten being the most efficient. Best way to think of it is the more energy you use, the more you spend. Similar to miles per gallon with a vehicle.

Who can see my score? Scores are available to the public and are easily accessed on the green building registry https://us.greenbuildingregistry.com
